Blythswood Square started as a residential development in the 1820s and has preserved ample green space right in Glasgow’s city centre, making for a peaceful place to create a home base when staying in the city. With pretty gardens and stately Georgian townhouses, featuring four identical terraces (now the Kimpton Blythswood Square Hotel), you’ll never tire of the views. Fun fact: In the 1950s and ’60s, the Monte Carlo Rally, a long-distance race, regularly started in Blythswood Square. Well-wishers would flood the square to bid the drivers adieu on their way to the French Riviera — but we wouldn’t blame them if they took off slowly, savoring the views.
